TikTok Captions: Turn a Saved Clip’s Speech into Text
If you mean the words spoken in a video, select one supported file saved on your device to make an English transcript. This does not write a post description or create styled, burned-in, SRT, or VTT captions.

Transcript
Decide which TikTok captions you need
- Speech transcriptThe words you can hear. This tool creates a plain-text English transcript from a local video file.
- On-screen captionsText placed over the picture. Compare it with the audio yourself; this tool does not read or render that visual layer.
- Post descriptionThe text you write beside a post. Draft it separately instead of pasting a transcript as if it were finished social copy.
Keeping these layers apart helps prevent a spoken sentence, a title card, and a post description from being mistaken for the same text.
Check a line before you reuse it
For each uncertain passage, jot down four fields in your own notes: the timestamp, the words actually heard, any words visibly printed in the frame, and the post text you plan to write separately. Leave a field blank when the source does not provide it. This simple separation makes it clear whether a mismatch came from recognition, on-screen wording, or later editing.
- Replay the momentTurn timestamps on, return to the questionable line, and listen to the phrase before and after it. Do not fill a gap by guessing.
- Check high-risk wordsListen again for names, handles, numbers with units, short negatives such as “not,” and words cut off at an edit.
- Keep edits visibleIf you shorten or rewrite speech for a post description, treat that as your new copy—not as a verbatim transcript.
If you already have an authorized script, compare it with the audio as a reference; it may help spot recognition errors. When the recording and script disagree, mark the line for review instead of silently replacing one with the other.
What this local transcript can and cannot do
- One local MP4, MOV, or WebM file at a time.
- English speech; files up to 25 MB and videos up to 60 seconds.
- Copyable transcript text with optional timestamps and a TXT download.
- No TikTok links, account access, remote retrieval, on-screen text recognition, or SRT/VTT export.
Only process a video you own or have permission to use. A transcript does not grant permission to republish someone else’s speech, music, or footage.
